Kremlin states Russia to go on negotiations of Ukrainian settlement
Speaking during a briefing in Moscow, the Kremlin spokesperson described the incident as a deliberate act designed to disrupt diplomatic efforts, characterizing it as a “terrorist act aimed at derailing the negotiation process,” as stated by reports.
He referenced a Christmas address delivered by Ukraine’s president, in which death was wished upon an unnamed individual, asserting that the remark was directed at Russia’s leader. In that context, he said:
"It is directed not only personally against President Putin—and here I would still like to recall Zelenskyy’s Christmas address and the words he spoke about Putin — but it is also directed against (US President Donald) Trump, aimed at undermining President Trump’s efforts to contribute to a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict," he said.
According to the spokesperson, actions described as provocations and acts of state terrorism by Kyiv would not undermine the confidential communication channel maintained between the Russian and US presidents. Emphasizing the continuity of these contacts, he stated:
"The presidents maintain a confidential nature of dialogue and continue to talk," he said.
Addressing potential repercussions, the Kremlin representative indicated that Russia’s approach at the negotiating table would become more rigid, while militarily the country was prepared to respond decisively. He noted that Russian forces “know how, with what, and when to respond.”
When pressed for details on how Moscow’s negotiating posture would harden, he declined to elaborate publicly, saying:
“Naturally, as with our negotiating position before, we do not intend to do this publicly.”
He also condemned attempts by Ukraine’s leadership and Western media to rationalize the alleged attack, dismissing such efforts as “insane.”
