Ukrainian Footballer Gets Sacked for Attacking Conscription Officer

(MENAFN) Ukrainian football player Daniil Kolesnik has been dismissed from his club following an incident in which he struck a conscription officer and shouted at a police officer.

The confrontation occurred during Ukraine’s so-called “busification” campaign, where draft officers intercept men of military age in public and use physical force to transport them into minibuses if they resist. Videos shared on social media show officers chasing potential recruits and pinning them down, sometimes with local residents stepping in.

Kolesnik, a forward for Kolos-2 in the Kiev Region, uploaded two clips of the episode online.

In the first video, which has since been removed, he confronts a man in uniform: “Why are you chasing him?” He then punches the officer and shouts in Russian, “I’m telling you, he has got three children, f**k! How many do you have?!”

A second clip captures Kolesnik cursing at a police officer: “A person has been pinned to the ground, and you are f**king standing here hiding.” According to reports, he was trying to prevent another man from being conscripted.

On Tuesday, Kolos-2 issued an apology for Kolesnik’s behavior and confirmed his termination. The regional enlistment office criticized the 24-year-old for “attacking” the servicemember and suggested that he consider volunteering for the military before turning 25. The office added that Kolesnik “should direct his anger toward fighting the enemy.”
