US Envoy Says Ukraine, Russia Agreed to Continue Negotiating

(MENAFN) US special envoy Steve Witkoff said Tuesday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to keep working toward a deal after a third round of trilateral talks in Geneva.

"Today, at President (Donald) Trump’s direction, the United States moderated a third set of trilateral discussions with Ukraine and Russia," Witkoff said on the US social media platform X.

He expressed gratitude to Switzerland for hosting the meetings and noted: "Both parties agreed to update their respective leaders and continue working towards a deal."

The statement followed the first day of US-facilitated talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, which concluded without major breakthroughs. The US team included Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who joined after helping manage indirect discussions with Iranian officials elsewhere in Geneva earlier that day.
