Witkoff Says Russia, Ukraine Vow to Continue Negotiations

(MENAFN) US special envoy Steve Witkoff stated Tuesday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to keep working toward a negotiated settlement following a third round of trilateral discussions in Geneva.

“Today, at President (Donald) Trump’s direction, the United States moderated a third set of trilateral discussions with Ukraine and Russia,” Witkoff said on the social media platform X. He also expressed gratitude to Switzerland for hosting the talks.

“Both parties agreed to update their respective leaders and continue working towards a deal,” he added.

The remarks followed the first day of US-facilitated peace talks, which concluded without major breakthroughs. The United States was represented by Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who had joined the Geneva talks after previously assisting with indirect discussions with Iranian officials elsewhere in the city.
