“Children’s safety is not a formality, but a daily priority”: Creating safe learning spaces for children in Ukraine

For children living and learning amid war, safety is about more than protection from immediate danger. It means having a place where they can continue learning, play with friends and feel supported by the adults around them – even when an air raid alarm interrupts the day.

With the support of the Government of Sweden, UNESCO is repairing and rebuilding early childhood education facilities across Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa and Zhytomyr regions, including the addition of protective shelters.
